Equalities Act 2010 Consultancy

HKRGeneral Consultancy

Our services range from the provision of proactive advice for those needing initial project guidance, through to support in a crisis that may have developed during the development process, or following a customer complaint.

We offer a multi–disciplinary approach to Planning, Architecture and Building to enable us to be very responsive, providing top quality advice at short notice.

We provide consultancy to many sectors here are a few examples:

  • Rugby League Stadiums
  • Football Stadiums
  • Doctors Surgeries
  • Schools
  • Office Buildings
  • Hotels
  • Legal disputes ( Expert Witness)

Access Appraisals are the first stage in identifying key deficiencies in buildings that do not comply with the latest legislation using a short reporting format that is easy to understand without getting into technicalities.

We will identify possible locations for Disabled toilets, lifts and Ramps together with assessing existing facilities that may not meet the current regulations. We will also identify suitable areas within the building that A Lift or toilet could be sited.

Detailed Drawings and Specifications are the second stage in preparing to construct toilets, ramps, low level counters, signage as identified in the Access Appraisal to Part M of the Building Regulations and BS8300. We will then prepare a specification that can be used by a contractor to quote on construction costs.

Access & Design Statements were mandatory in Part M of the Building Regulations from May 2004. This enables the design team to explain why an alternative to accepted good practice could or should be used in situations where site conditions make an alternative design acceptable.

With the requirement to provide Design and Access Statements for nearly all planning applications from August 2006, this is a very important part of the Planning Application. Access statements should be evolving documents, being tailored and updated as the design of a scheme develops.

We provide Access Statements for:

  • All change of use  planning applications
  • All new build planning applications
  • All Commercial planning applications
  • All Disability related adaptations that require planning permission

Sports Stadium Appraisals & Auditing

Access Audit Programme

Our Access Consultant is an experienced auditor with a detailed pan-disability understanding of access to sports stadia. We are very competitive on fees that include an independent access audit or appraisal, including a match day audit and ongoing access advice and support.

Our Access Audit programme is of course not mandatory for Clubs but we do believe that it will help them considerably in being able to confidently provide an excellent service for their supporters and staff.

An access audit will help Clubs to meet their legal obligations and mitigate any potential risks. It makes real business sense for Clubs to be proactive rather than reactive in this regard.
